I had to sneak in a Halloween tag. LOL... I love Halloween. On Halloween, you can be anything you want and get away with it! =.) Such happy memories of dressing up, of being in Halloween costume contests, and of being a chaparone at my daughters Halloween dance parties.

Halloween is the most spooktacular time to have fun with your children. It's not about showing your love by spending as much money as you can on expensive gifts. It's not about buying the most expensive costume. And in my opinion, it has nothing to do with the devil at all, unless you want it to...

It's about showing your love by giving your time and laughter and the gift of imagination to your children and to yourself. Many people have gotten away from that... They don't know how to express their love except through money. Sad; isn't it?

A child needs to grow up feeling loved. A child needs structure. A child needs to learn about imagination and having fun. A child needs responsibility and direction. A child needs to learn about safety vs trust. A child needs to learn how to get along with others and how to cope with difficulties when they come. Except for responsibility, these are things that I never had in my childhood and things that I tried to give to my kids. Being a parent is about all the things that money cannot buy and about preparing your kids for when you are no longer there. ~ Winivere
