Dear Santa: I Can Explain

Photobucket

I haven't found a Christmas scrap kit that I like, so I have minimal things to work with to make Christmas tags. I hope people like what I have made so far...

People always say that if you are naughty, Santa won't bring you presents. I think that is a sorry thing to say to children, because I was always a good girl, but I only got one Christmas present my entire childhood. When buying Christmas gifts, I always think of the children first. I think children should get at least one present on Christmas day.

I don't know what life will be like at the shelter this Christmas season. All I know is that the children that are not reunited with their families will be sad to spend Christmas at the shelter. I hope that we will be able to do something to keep their spirits up... Instead of the Secret Santa idea for the staff, I think we should have donated CD players or radios for the kids at the shelter... I don't know what activities they are planning, but it would be nice to have them do a play or something...

I think I have found a new church home... Well, for as long as I continue to live in this area... I have been going to a nearby Shrine for many years, but I never knew that they give Mass in Latin at the church! I don't know if it is a recent change or if they have always had Mass in Latin, but it has brought back memories of my childhood of the way Mass used to be...

First of all, it is a humble church, which I love, because that means that my money will be helpful instead of being spent on things that the church really doesn't need... The priest faces the altar instead of the people. At communion, people kneel at the pews at the front of the church instead of standing up to receive communion, and they receive communion on their tongue instead of in their hand. Even the music is in Latin! It feels as if the voices are voices of angels singing... The women cover their heads with beautiful lace mantillas, just like in the days of old. I love mantillas. I wish I still had my long mantilla, but I have lots of hats and a collection of pretty vintage gloves that I can wear. I just wish I had prettier clothes to wear... but I need to lose some weight before I consider making some pretties... I am so adorable but nobody knows. LOL...

This morning, I made some homemade corn tortillas to eat with breakfast. All last week, nothing seemed to satisfy my pallete, but this morning's breakfast was yummy. I think I will make some homemade chili today...

My scale doesn't work, because it needs batteries and I can't find the right kind... I am not sure if I have lost some weight this week, but I feel lighter so if I looked at a scale and my weight has not gone down, it would not be helpful, so NOT having a scale that works has been helpful. LOL... I am not eating diet food. I am just trying to eat less and I am taking vitamins. I wake up so early that when I get home, I am exhausted, so I haven't gone walking, and I have been going to sleep earlier than usual... But I have been able to stay awake all day at work, and so far, I have been able to survive wearing my two-inch heels. Yay!

There is still a lot to learn at work, but so far, I am happy to see progress in my cases, and I have been able to keep up with the paperwork. The phone people were in the office last week and they installed the plug where my computer will go, so that is hopeful. I hope I will have a computer and a phone at work soon. My desk will be by the window so I am happy that my boss said that is where they will put me!

Payday is nine days away. LOL @ I continue to count the days... It is hard for me to understand why my coworkers live paycheck to paycheck when they have a two paycheck household, but then, they go out to eat everyday... and it sounds as if they are wasteful with their money.

I remember my mom and grandmother wearing those pretty lace coverings on their heads...that was a long, long time ago. That is amazing that you have found a shrine that still celebrates in Latin! Donating to the homeless shelter children is great idea--you should bring it up at work! Julie

I visited a Catholic church that conducted their mass in Latin. I found it quite interesting. Glad you found a church you are comfortable with....

I love mass in Latin! I used to go to a church where the people were lower income, very poor parish, but I found that there are hipoctites in every socio-economic level. There is more affluent church 5 minutes from my home, but I choose to travel 22 miles each way to San Xavier Mission, a native american parish, very old, but very spiritual. I can't believe how many people I work with who go out to each EVERY DAY!!

I think it would be nice to buy some things for the kids at the shelter also instead of Secret Santa. We do Toys for Tots at work. Even when I'm struggling, I buy one really nice toy for both a boy and girl.

Hang in there....pay day is getting closer.

LOL at the scrap kits. There are only a couple that I liked but took forver to download so I didn't do it. HUGS

Every day is one step closer to an achievement, don't you think? Smart move not fixing that scale. You don't need it to validate what your body is telling you. Drink lots of water - it's free! LOL

Your church sounds remarkable and it's good to know you have a place of sanctuary in tough times.

Sweety, don't wait until you lose weigh. Go ahead and buy yourself something pretty. Treat yourself like the queen you are. I cover my head as well; love lace.
Toys for Tots is a good plan to start. Also Angel Tree. While Mark and I do not celebrate Christmas, we do donate to the above.

I hope that payday will come quickly for you. I am glad that your are employed during the holidays.

I am also glad to hear that you found a church you like.

I hope that you can find a pretty pair of gloves to wear to mass. I don't think that you should wait until you lose weight to buy something pretty for yourself.

The way I see it, is that the prettier you feel, the more inclined you will be to lose weight. Pamper yourself now, and you will be more inspired to lose the rest of the weight.

Gosh, I thought all Catholic Churches did things that way. I've been to Mass a few times with my MIL and a former B/F. They cover thier heads, recieved communion kneeling. But, I guess that was in the 70's. This new chruch home sounds like a good fit for you.

Throw your scale away. They should be outlawed. The nuber doesn't matter. It's how you feel (and how your your clothes fit) that count.

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away my ex and I went to a financial advisor who told us we were blowing $10K a year on crap. We added it all up and we were on dinners, dunkin donuts, etc. So yeah it's easy to do.

It saddens my heart when I go into a store where there are many children yelling I want, I want knowing their tree will be packed with presents and some go without. My son receives too much and we are nothing but happy to send to those less fortunate. Happy to hear you found a new home thats humble. Take care and enjoy the sunshine.

Wow, 2" heels! Nice ideas for the shelter, I'm sure something original will come to mind. Btw, many RCC's still offer Mass in latin, mine always has, just as I like it. O to answer your question about who John & Mary are, as I say on the blog, they are the Progenitors - you know, the creators - the originals - the imprimaturs - the moldmakers - ok Wini sweetheart your task is to look up "progenitor" it would be too easy to just answer lol. Yes we share many interests don't we! I want to do another, better video of some tales of Egyptian mythology. And my MM collection started in the 70s. Luna is everywhere in my original Journal, I used to (and shouuld continue) keeping track, making posts about her placement in the skies each month. Been lazy lately. Stay sweet!

Christmas is all about kids for me and of course Jesus' birthday. I like your idea of donating, I wish I would have thought of that before I arranged the Secret Santa at work. *M*
