Another Sad Day

What a sad day when you lose a friend. Today, I lost two... one of them is being transferred to another Shelter, but the one I will miss most is the one who started work on the same day as I did. Yes, one of the M&M girls was terminated. It is scary for someone to get terminated from one day to the next. Makes me afraid to get an apartment closer to work. What if I end up with higher rent and no money to pay the rent? Moving there is also scary because there are fewer jobs in the area...
.
Personally, I think she was doing a very good job, but she clashed with The Eye, & the girls under her supervision didn't like her. I clash with Betty Crocker & Spelling Bee. I hate office politics.

Winivere, I can relate to what you said. I hate office politics, too! Often they can get in the way of the real purpose of the work. I am sorry that you had such a rough day.

On a lighter note, I LOVE the nicknames you give to the people you write about.

Unfortunately, office politics are everywhere. All you can do is the best job you can. Karma always has a way of making its way around. The Eye will get it back...double!

Sorry to hear you lost 2 friends. I hate dealing with these kids of issues. But there doesn't seem to be anyway around it.

It certainly sends a message to the staff about "The Eye's" tolerance level. Whoa. I imagine he had to do it with good cause, one can't just fire someone because of personality conflicts these days - especially if it is a government run facility? Or is she contracted? Well for this closed door, maybe it will open another and the other M&M girl will be a bit nicer. Here is hoping!

It's terrible to feel so insecure in your job that you are afraid to move. Maybe you should mention to your superior that you are considering moving closer to work and wonder how secure your position is. Good luck and sorry about your friend.

That's not good...... obviously.

I hope she's able to retain unemployment, being she wasn't fired for cause. Sheesz.

Oh my dear Win, please don't strat to get the negative feelings again...ALL WILL BE WELL....The good Lord took you to that job he will see that you are safe...whatever happens.
Try not to hate anyone it is not worth it and hate eats away at our own soul and not at ones who we are targeting our hate towards..
Much Love

:( Sorry about the departure of your friends. Office politics is just plain stupid--there are clicks-just like high school. Hopefully you can still remain friends with these two outside of work! :) Julie

Whatever we love I believe we keep forever, for it stays with us beyond the limits of a physical world. We don't lose anything, we just gain more in a different way? Could be, but surely a good life well-lived and loved by others, no matter human or other animal, will be held in love by the heart who keeps them alive.

It may have been planned since the day of hiring. Maybe they hired the two of you to handle the heavy workload and watched you two the whole time.Perhaps it was a competition for long term employment. Deciding that you were the one to keep, istead of your M lady. Sometimes employers do this to have more options.
